Healthful high fat foods are not something to
shy away from. Good fats are an essential component of our
diet. The human body needs certain amount of fat from daily diet
to aid hormone function, memory and the absorption of specific
nutrients. Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fats are good source of fats which include
Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids.
Here are example of ten healthful high fat foods:
AVOCADO - Avocado is an incredibly nutritious fruit. It can be consumed as part of our daily breakfast.
Dark Chocolate - Small portion of dark chocolate is considered to be a good fat. However large portions might cause sleeplessness, fast heartbeat, migraine etc.
OLIVE - Olives are good source of fat. If someone has 5-a-day portion it will help to reduce the bad cholesterol.
Olive oil - Olive oil is rich in healthy Monounsaturated fats. It can be used as part of our daily cooking.
Yogurt - Yogurt is a very good source of fatty acids. Low fat yogurt can be a useful source of protein for a weight loss diet.
Tofu - Adding tofu in diet is a powerful way to lower the bad cholesterol level (not recommended for people with Thyroid problems).
Nuts - Almonds and other tree nuts can improve blood cholesterol. A recent study concluded that diet supplemented with walnuts can lower the risk of heart complications.
Chia seeds - Excellent source of Omega-3 which help raise good cholesterol (HDL) cholesterol level - the good cholesterol that protects against heart attack and stroke.
Eggs - Eggs are an important part of well balanced healthy diet.
Fatty fish - Fatty fishes (such as - Salmon, Mackerel etc.) has high level of Omega-3 fatty acid which can reduce your triglycerides - a type of fat found in our blood. It also helps to reduce your blood pressure and risk of developing blood clots.
Good fats are the key to keep bad cholesterol (LDL) levels low and good cholesterol (HDL) level high, which may protect against heart disease and keep us healthy.
